Even if you have no vision problems, it is important to consult an ophthalmologist. Indeed, it is necessary to have your sight checked quite frequently to monitor vision because sight is life.

When should I consult an ophthalmologist if my eye has no apparent problem?

For a child under 3 years old there are compulsory checks provided for in his health record, you just have to read them. At 3 years old a visit is essential but also around 5/6 years old, just before the start of the school year, in CP. Thereafter, if the child does not complain of vision problems (itchy eyes, difficulty reading or even concentrating) the visit can wait until he is 10 years old. A visit during adolescence is also recommended (certain visual disturbances appear during adolescence).
Regarding adulthood, from 20 to 45 years old, it is best to make an appointment with an ophthalmologist every 5 years. After this age, we recommend a visit every 2 or 3 years maximum.
