Exam: Fundus
The fundus is a visual examination which detects eye diseases. It can also be used to monitor diseases such as diabetes or high blood pressure . It is important to specify that such an examination generates a dilation of the pupil, the sight will therefore be blurred and will return clear only 2 hours or 4 hours after this one it is therefore necessary to come to accompany and not to take the wheel following a fundus.
What is a fundus?
A fundus examination is performed by an ophthalmologist with the aim of detecting diseases, anticipating problems such as retinal detachment or monitoring diseases such as diabetes. In order to carry out this examination, the ophthalmologist has 3 different techniques.
First technique
The first technique consists of projecting light through the pupil using an ophthalmoscope. This technique is very fast.
Second technique
The second technique involves taking a closer look at the patient's retina using a convex examination lens. This second technique only takes a few minutes.
Third Technique
The third technique will only be used if the ophthalmologist needs a complete view of the fundus. This third technique will therefore be longer than the first two. It consists of dilating the pupil using eye drops and placing a three-mirror glass directly on the eye so as to be able to examine the patient's retina. This last technique takes about 30 minutes.
Fundus frequency
This examination must be prescribed by a doctor and can be carried out from early childhood. It is necessary to consult an ophthalmologist every 5 years if you do not have any particular disorders enter 15 and 40 years and every 2 years after 40 years . For people who have a vision disorder, it is necessary to make an appointment at least every 2 years in order to carry out a check-up.
